Donald Trump issues second apology over tape of sex assault boast

Trump scandal

Donald Trump has made a second apology after a tape emerged of him making lewd remarks and boasting about groping women.

In a statement released tonight he admitted his words were "foolish" and that "Anyone who knows me, knows these words don't reflect who I am."

“I said it, I was wrong, and I apologise,” Trump added.

The Republican presidential candidate went on "I never said I was perfect", before going on to say campaigning around the country in recent months has "changed" him.

However, he went on to describe the tape as "nothing more than a distraction" from the "real world" problems facing America.

In the video released by the Washington Post earlier today, Trump is heard saying: "when you're a star... you can do anything."

The clip, filmed in 2005 as Trump chatted with Access Hollywood presenter Billy Bush, appears to have been captured as Bush accompanied the presidential candidate to a soap opera set.

It begins with just audio of the two chatting, with both men's microphones switched on.

And Mr Trump can be heard saying: “I did try and f*** her. She was married.

“And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping . She wanted to get some furniture.

"I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’ I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married.”

They can then be heard gasping over another woman, thought to be actress Arianne Zucker, who arrives to meet the pair.

And Trump then adds: “I’ve gotta use some tic tacs, just in case I start kissing her. More
